bubble wrap printing

I have been wanting to try this for a while but never seemed to have any bubble wrap handy but, Baa-chan sent us a package the other day which meant we had bubble wrap to paint with!
First he painted directly onto the bubble wrap, you need to work fast so that the paint doesn't dry, we used poster paint, I think it would work well with acrylic too.

then he placed a piece of card on the top, pressed down and pulled off the card, the prints were quite cute.

After a few of these we changed tack and rolled the bubble wrap into a ball and used it like a stamp, he really enjoyed doing this, we only stopped when he had used up all of the paper, now I will have to think of something to do with all art work he created.

It would have been fun to do this with a selection of bubble wrap sizes.

News on the lobsters - big lobster shed his shell in the night and was dead this morning so daddy ebi was trying to explain what had happened. Babyebi came and told me that big lobster had taken off his shell, like this (and pulls his head into his PJ's) and now he is broken and will have to go in the bin because he can't be mended with glue. Very matter of fact and not at all upset, phew.

  1. I've been saving bubble wraps for this activity for months! I have SO MUCH bubble wrap, but we haven't gotten around to doing this. It looks like fun, so I've got to stop being lazy and get out the paints! Thanks for the motivation!
