I had to read it as part of my training; it's a heavy read, but there is so much valuable information about the Philosophy behind what Montessorians do.Teresanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5055098504138674669.post-72530757954264092152009-10-02T03:06:38.963+09:002009-10-02T03:06:38.963+09:00Great post Jo, I'll pop back and read it all m...Great post Jo, I'll pop back and read it all more thoroughly when I get a chance!SuperLucky Dihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10900843861649451029noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5055098504138674669.post-26916291824464033652009-10-01T21:43:52.100+09:002009-10-01T21:43:52.100+09:00thanks so much for sharing! Thanks for the great post and great links! I appreciate it...as well as the spelling for Aikido!!! LOL, I am such a dork. I only see it spelled the hungarian way and it isn't the same...so I don't know how it is really spelled. Oh and Eli and I have been putting together our package for Ebi-kun...we had fun picking out some fun Hungarian things he might like...It should be in the mail next week :)Juliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04468091448836367411noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5055098504138674669.post-33926633043697807442009-10-01T20:19:07.981+09:002009-10-01T20:19:07.981+09:00Why did I choose Montessori? When I...Why did I choose Montessori? Good question!
When I was pregnant I saw a program about a school in Japan, it was all in Japanese so I didn't really understand that much but it looked really cool. later I was talking about it to a friend and she said that it sounded like a Montessori school. At that point I had never heard of Montessori. So, from there I did some reading and the more i read, the more I thought it was for us. The first book I read was The genius Behind The Science, which is quite heavy going but it had me convinced that there was more to this Montessori theory than meets the eye.
4 years ago, there was not so nearly as much online material available as there is now so I decided to do an online course with NAMC and the rest is history.
I had a look at Waldorf and Steiner but I felt Montessori was more suited to our family, although , I can see the attraction of the other schooling styles.jojoebi-designshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17585345777385016260noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5055098504138674669.post-28635201528622439582009-10-01T19:59:57.085+09:002009-10-01T19:59:57.085+09:00I am interested as to why you chose montessori. Can you tell me what else you looked at and what brought your decision to montessori?Shari Kawashimanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5055098504138674669.post-11087710281679448062009-10-01T19:56:32.161+09:002009-10-01T19:56:32.161+09:00Can you tell me what pulled you in the direction o...Can you tell me what pulled you in the direction of montessori?volscatshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16432281234795004217noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5055098504138674669.post-78624089022426212022009-10-01T09:35:01.600+09:002009-10-01T09:35:01.600+09:00Wonderful post! One of my biggest pieces of advice to those starting out would definately be to read blogs! I've gotten so much help by reading about how Montessori is done by "real moms." :)Nicolehttp://onehookwonder.typepad.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5055098504138674669.post-5118320697579687092009-10-01T08:55:15.289+09:002009-10-01T08:55:15.289+09:00Off to buy books.
