Years ago I visited the Workman shop, it was, as expected a shop of protective clothing and the such like for... drum roll... yes, workmen.
But then a few years back, they made a change and now they not only sell workmen gear but also outdoor clothing and accessories including for women and kids.
My son got himself some pants that he uses for bouldering, water resistant, stretchy and most importantly, plenty of pockets! He also got a great coat that has a zipper up the back so that it will fit over your backpack.
Since then both hubby and I have bought items from Workman, outdoor pants for hiking which are 10x cheaper than buying from the outdoor stores!
They also sell excellent seasonal gear, like the jackets with built in fans for the summer and special thermal gear in the winter.
I would recommend going into a store and trying things on rather than buying online until you know their sizing fits. There are lots of stores around, just pop Workman into Google maps.
But note!
There are different types of store Workman, Workman Plus and Workman Colors. From what I can gather, Workman is your traditional work gear store. Plus is work gear and outdoor activities and Colors is more fashion clothing and doesn't sell the work gear, or less of it.
The quality of the clothing is great, it's the go-to for construction workers so it has to hold up. The labels on the clothes tell you how waterproof/breathable it is etc. So that you can make a sensible, informed decision. They sell a variety of colours and styles. And best of all, the prices are affordable!
So if you are looking for some good outdoor clothing or quality work gear, this is the place to go. And an extra bonus, they open early, all our local Workman stores open at 7am!
