making umeshu...

It is that time of year again, yes umeshu making season. Umeshu is a delicious plum wine and really easy to make. I did a post with step by step instructions here.
We still have some of last years batch left, well we have a lot of the plums left, hmmm I love a bit of ume plum but they are pretty lethal. The jar on the left is the new batch and the jar on the right is what is left of last years batch.

The great thing about umeshu is that it is really versatile, you can drink it neat with ice to warm the cockles of your heart on a chilly day or drink it with soda for something refreshing on a hot day. It is also good with hot water if you are feeling until the weather.
