Clearing Out The Old...

To make way for the new. 

I have been slowly working my way through the house, clearing out all the old crap and clutter, one this to go were the scrappy old coasters but that meant I needed some new ones. It was a great excuse to get back on the sewing wagon, I went a bit wild and made placemats too!

Modern Montessori Placemats...

With the Montessori method, children are encouraged to set the table themselves. When Ebi-kun was younger I made him a mat to help him put everything in the right place, he really enjoyed getting out his cutlery and setting his place every meal and snack time. I wanted to make some similar mats but with a more modern feel to them, these were the test run as it were. One side has the table setting and the back has a bright flower design so once the kids are done you can flip the mats over or as your child grows they can try setting their place without the aid of the pictures.

I couldn't decide of my favourite colour way and everyone I had shown them to have picked a different one! A change of colour

Thought the Christmas colours should be packed back up in their box and popped into the pantry with the rest of the Christmas gubbins.

I would also like to introduce you to my Book Store which is just a little place where I have recommended my (our) favourite books. DaddyEbi took BabyEbi out to play at the weekend which meant I got a good couple of uninterrupted hours with the sewing machine so BabyEbi got a new back-pack, I didn't use a pattern, just made it up as I went along, turned out pretty good, even if I do say so myself! The soldier material and the spotty bits are pockets, the soldier pocket closes with a snap and there is an inside pocket too, now he can carry all his own crap around, spare pants, colouring books, pencils, toy cars, tissues and whatever other rubbish seems to appear into my bag usually!

and I made myself some new table mats and coasters, I LOVE this orange flowery fabric, I am now kicking myself for not buying more - I always do that!

They do go lovely with my new plates!
