Help me find a new home...

When I got up yesterday morning, I didn't think I would bath a dog later in the day!
We went to the park before lunch and as we were leaving saw a little dog running with no leash, an unusual sight in Japan. He ran into the car park and we looked around but couldn't see an owner, he then went and hid under a car so we were worried he would get run over. We eventually managed to get him out and hubby rang around to see if we could take him somewhere, no such luck. There is the hokensho (?) but if he goes there it looks like he will be put down or given to a lab to be a test animal.

So, we bought him home, a neighbor gave us some supplies as we tried to decide what to do with him. he wasn't wearing a collar, very skinny and very scared and had wavy hair which made it look like he had been wearing clips in his hair which makes us think he was dumped not a runaway. Hubby has reported him missing but we don't think we will get any luck with that so we need to find him a new home.

We took him to the vet who gave him the once over, said he looked healthy but under weight and estimated that he was 6-7 years old. The vet didn't have a scanner but said he couldn't feel a chip under his skin. I am guessing he is a long haired miniature dachshund. Appears to be house trained, pleasant nature, fine with Ebi-kun and once he realized we were trying to help he became very trusting. I gave him a bath and he just stood their and let me wash him down, didn't bat an eye lid. He is really gentle, even taking food despite the fact that he was obviously starving. I half expected him to cry in the night when we went upstairs to bed but he barked a couple of times, I came down and told him to go to bed and that was the end of the matter.

We can't keep him, so, if you or you know someone who is looking for a dog please get in touch. We are in Saitama. jojoebi.designs 'at' gmail 'dot' com

I am sure he would make a lovely pet for someone, alternatively, if you know of a place that takes dogs in, the only one I have heard of is ARK, he is a lovely little fellow so I would like to see him go to a good home.

  1. Oh how I wish I could help! I love dogs (grew up with 2 or 3 around all the time) and he sounds like the perfect little guy to get my not-so-fond-of-dogs little girl to enjoy their company more. Silly oceans in between Japan and the US though...

  3. He looks like a well-cared for pet, isn't it odd that he would be let loose? Good on you for being so caring.
