The Amazing Lego Egg Decorating Machine...

So, the other day I challenge Ebi-kun to build an egg decorating machine out of Lego. After a few false starts this is what he came up with.

He used 4 tyres and two motors, the egg rests between the tyres and the motors turn the tyres which in turn turn the egg.

As he was trying various methods out he was using a plastic egg which was jumping about a lot, the problem of the escaping egg was solved when he added a real hard boiled egg, the weight of the egg stopped it from jumping.

Happy Easter! 

It was a full day for us, I'll post about the play group egg hunt tomorrow. Ebi-kun loves doing treasure hunts, so I make a pile of clues for him to work out around the house…

After several clues he ended up…

Finding the egg! and a new book, he was actually more excited about the book, it is the second one in the Bear Gyrlls fiction series, he took it to bed with him and when I went to get him up he was already awake and reading - he was on chapter 10! I think that is proof in itself that they are good books. The egg was a great Ikea find, it was empty so I got him some licorice - which is difficult to get hold of here and mom sent him some mini eggs (which I will have to help him eat).

I had to share this genius idea, I saw it on Pinterest but they had mini cupcakes but they used the egg box as the container - great and easy way to carry food about! These are mini chocolate rice krispie cakes with jelly beans for eggs.

Most eggs here come in the plastic packs but we always buy the card packs - so much better for crafting! I will definitely be using egg boxes to transport things around and they are small, bite sized food which is perfect for a pot luck party.

Now I am thinking about what other food I could put in there!

The Easter Egg Hunt - a wee bit late!

We finally had a nice day to hold the postponed egg hunt! This is the first time we have ever had the egg hunt rained off. I didn't matter in the end, it was still fun.

We send the kids off to the squirrel enclosure whilst the adults hide the eggs in the wooded area behind, this is my favourite shot of the kids...

We forgot to take a basket so Ebi-kun used the cool bag, he could have sniffed his eggs out. We had decorated the eggs the week before Easter then the egg hunt got postponed twice but we kept the eggs so they were a bit wiffy by the time we got round to it and no, we didn't eat them!

After the hunt we had lunch and then onto the games - the kids were split into 2 teams and sent on a treasure hunt... Now many of the kids are older we can just let them go and do it.

And a new activity this year was guess how many jelly beans in the jar - this was a big hit with all the kids.

After all that fun it was time for the moms to put their feet up and the dads took on the kids at football!

We eventually got them to wrap the game up but then someone decided to climb a tree and we ended up with all the kids either up the tree or hanging off it at some stage!

A good day was had by all and the egg hunt is usually the first activity of the year and kicks off the fun for the year.

Of eggs, martial arts and fun....

We ended up having a really busy Easter weekend. We did have the annual Easter Egg hunt planned for the Sunday but we postponed due to the crappy weather. So, Saturday we had the pottery class, after that we did the weekly shopping, picked up Ebi-kun's new gi and I made desserts for the next day.

Sunday, started with a big chocolate egg, I made it myself since we can't buy these types of egg here. I actually used two plastic molds that tofu came in - perfect. It is a bit tricky getting them out but this year I made the chocolate thicker and it all went smoothly.

After breakfast (we had a sensible breakfast not just chocolate egg!) we went to Aikido, Ebi-kun is now a signed up member and has the gi to prove it, even if it is rather too big - he will grow into it...

When class was done, we went home, grabbed a quick bite to eat, I did a bit of painting in Ebi-kun's room (it is the middle of a make-over) then we headed out to a friends house for turkey lunch, which turned out to be turkey dinner! The kids had a great time, many mimosa's were quaffed (not by the kids I might add) and a good time was had by all.

Not our usual Easter weekend but lots of fun all the same. How was yours?
