Titan Cable means no more tears over broken charger cables

Before Christmas Jon from Fuse Chicken dropped me a line and asked if I would like to try out the Titan cable to see if it lived up to it's claims. Not one to say no to a great offer I asked him to send one out so we could put it to the test.

The cable is for an iphone and although we haven't had any issues with our cables to date, I have plenty of friends who have - usually the protective cable cracking around the plug section.

My cable tends to stay home unless I'm travelling, DH on the other hand takes his to work every day, so his gets a lot more abuse than mine.

I must admit when I first opened the cable packaging I was surprised how thick it was compared to the regular iphone charging cable but that's because it's covered in an indestructible casing. Side note: Fuse Chicken also make the cables for Android too.

I set Ebi-kun up with the challenge of breaking it - first he thought I had lost the plot, here you are, go and break this...

But he got into it, took it outside, tried smashing it with a brick...

He came back in and the cable still looked good as new.

I sat for a while bending and twisting it at the regular cables weakest spot but it had no effect, we have also been using it daily and taken it on over night trips. It is tough!

It would make a great gift for a dad/husband or anyone else who breaks their cables easily, I'm pretty sure I won't need to replace mine now!

Do you want a new iphone case?

The peeps at Caseapp contacted me and asked if I would like to try out their iphone case, you get to design it yourself so of course, the chance to do something craft & geeky I jumped at the chance. (You can get one too if you are lucky...)

It is seriously easy to use! Pop over to Caseapp and select the phone size that you have, upload a photo - you can move it around until you are happy with the position. Add some text if you like then save and order. Easy peasy!

My tip would be to make sure you have a nice high resolution photo at least 300dpi. Photos taken with your phone might be ok, it depends what resolution & size you have set. If you load your image and it is way to big then you are onto a good start. You can easily scale the image down, making images bigger on the other hand can make them lose their sharpness.

This is the one I made, I have a problem that I can't get the old case off my phone, so I haven't been able to put the new one on yet! The colours came out lovely and the quote is from my mentor Denise Duffield Thomas - to serve as a little reminder in those self doubt moments!

This is for those of you who use an iPhone or iPad. In Japan, by law, your mobile device has to have a shutter noise when you take a picture. This is because some scumbags were taking pictures up school girls skirts when they were on the escalators, so the sound it supposed to discourage that kind of behavior. My iPhone also has a delay so you get the sound a second or two after the photo has been taken.

Now, this is all good and well BUT sometimes you don't want that sound, sometimes I am trying to get a picture of Ebi-kun engrossed in something and I don't want to disturb him and sometimes I want to use my camera without everyone turning round to look at me (such as the other day at school). So, I did a bit of research, it looks like you can hack your iPhone but I didn't really fancy that but then then I discovered Manner Cam App and it is free to boot. Whether it is legal or not is a whole other ball game!

Just promise you won't take be taking photo's up school girls skirts!

Moving pictures....

Since I got my new iPhone I have been exploring lots of apps that just didn't work on my old one. Hands down Cinemagram is my favourite. The app basically allows you to make a hybrid between a photo and a movie, the most effect ones are those that look like a photo but one small area in the image is moving, and just like a Blue Peter presenter would say... 'Here are some I prepared earlier'

This one is cool but a bit spooky somehow, the app also has filters so you can get that old feel to your images.

And yes, not even daddy-ebi gets out of my experimentation, the poor guy doesn't even get to have a nice relaxing beer without me poking a camera in his face - it must such fun living with me lol!
