Everyone Thinks Of Changing The World...

It's funny, when I work with moms often they want to change their husband or their kids, the house or their in-laws! They rarely think of starting with themselves and that is where we need to start.

Non of us are perfect and if you think you are, you are sadly mistaken! But when we start with ourselves, little tweaks here and there, we start to notice a change around us.

Sometime it will be the attitude or behaviour of family members, sometimes it's the way we use the home, when we start treating or environment a little kinder, we get the same back.

One of my favourite kaizen tweaks is so simple and easy and most people think they do it but in reality they don't!

Just say thank you.

Whenever a family member does something without being asked (or even after being asked is nice too).

"Thank you for clearing up after yourself"

"Thank you for hanging the towel up after you bath, I like it when it doesn't go moldy!"

"Thank you for putting your clothes away, that really helped me today"

"Thank you for playing nicely with your sister, it makes me happy when you play well together"

"Thank you for keeping the kids busy so I could tackle some of the housework, it's much easier when they are not underfoot"

And the strange thing is, because you are modelling this behaviour they start to mirror it back. The positive reinforcement when they are doing things right sinks in and because humans are natural people pleasers, they try to do more of the same.

So give it a go! Try it on for a week and let me know how it goes. pop over to the Moms That Rock group and share with me any a-has and break throughs.

Don't want to miss the latest news, join the challenges and basically hang out with a load of other cool moms, then jump on the Kaizen revolution playbook list. You will get a weekly email with lots of tips and tricks to make your life better, little by little!

24 hours and counting...

Why oh Why did my blog break mid launch?

Big apologies if you have been trying to catch up and all you got was some random hosting site page, I'm still not sure what the issue was but the very nice geeks at Siteground sorted it out for me!

This is your last call to join us in My Organized Chaos in 2016!

You don't need to take my word for it, that this program rocks...

I was unsure that I would have enough time and that completing one task would mean having to organize a lot of other spaces in the house first but it didn't work out like that. The art space I set up for the kids has been a big hit. - Diane
I'm a grandmother that babysits for my grandchildren. I didn't know if the course would be applicable or if I would fit into the group. I liked the openness and willingness to share that takes place in the members group and I love the pictures everybody shares, they really help to share ideas - Kathy
All of the ideas are simple and practical so they don't require a huge monetary investment to implement. They can also be done bit-by-bit as you have the time - great for busy parents! The more the kids can do on their own the less we (the adults) have to do for them. - Heidi
Yes I would recommend MOC to friends. I love the Montessori approach and going through the course reminded me of this. Each assignment made me rethink what I was doing, whether it was working, and just how far I had strayed from what I wanted my home and family life to be. I think others would benefit greatly from the same ideas and friendly guidance that Jo gives - Lynn
I feel like I have many more ideas for how to approach things, if that makes sense. Even though I've been super busy this month, the ideas you present make everything feel so approachable and do-able. I just love feeling the sense that I have some ideas to bring into my home to make it more functional and enjoyable for all of us to live in and use. - Paige
I am much more conscious of how wisely I am spending my time. Preparation is crucial! And it feels so good to have systems in place for storing things. I would recommend the course to anyone looking to be more organized in order to spend more time with their children. - Michi
I don't get as annoyed with my son - he will play for longer and happily tidy up after himself. He also seems to look forward to reading a lot more now he has a reading nook so is much easier to put to bed without fuss. As for me, I enjoy planning the time we spend together in advance. - Diana
If you are on the fence and have questions, shoot me an email or get in touch on facebook, I don't bite!!

The doors close in 24 hours, it's your time to take control and get your life back! Are you in? Click HERE

So join me on the Me Time challenge, I'll be sharing 5 techniques you can use anytime, anyplace, anywhere (almost) to help you stay sane and happy!

Are You A Time Starved Mama?

One thing I hear ALL the time is mamas complaining they don't have enough time.

  • Not enough time to get their hair done.
  • Not enough time to work on their own projects.
  • Not enough time to exercise!

Well it's no secret that I am a bit of a time ninja, I know how to get shit done! So I've put together a mini course (free) with my top tips on making the most of your time. Don't worry, I won't be telling you to go to bed later and get up earlier (I love my sleep far too much to be doing that)

I do share the techniques I use to run my business, home and family. How I have time to make most meals from scratch, including bread and cheese! I also after-school Ebi-kun, and don't have a cleaner, baby-sitter or handy MIL! I still manage to fit in MY hobbies, drawing, sewing, making and crafting. Oh and learning, I'm always taking courses!

I'm not supermom but I do make good use of my time!

Sign up here, I won't sell or even give your email address away, you will get the jojoebi playbook: What Macgyver would do if he had kids (which goes out weekly!)

Are you keeping up..

With the challenges?

Day 5 of the My Organized Chaos challenge is Decadence! How often to you treat your kids but not yourself? Today it's time for a mini upgrade, treat yourself to a posher bottle of wine or fancier chocolate, whatever your mama pleasure is. Instead of the economy class version, choice business class - savour it and enjoy it. I've been saving this bar of chocolate from the award winning @welovechocolate

Day 6 of the challenge is Take A Bath. A quick hop in and out of the shower gets you clean but we need time to rewind too. Nothing beats a long soak in the bath, add some bubbles, light some candles, maybe even a glass of wine...

Day 7 of the challenge is Talk A Walk! Explore a bit, use a new route or have a wander around the neighbourhood, you never know what hidden treats you might find. Fill your lungs with fresh air, feel the weather on your skin, listen to every sound, take time to look around.

Day 8 of the challenge is Do Your Hair! So easy to fall into the 2 second mama ponytail trick, you deserve more, your hair deserves more! So today, style it differently, give it some love, a deep condition maybe. Or if you have been putting off that hair appointment for some crap reason, BOOK it today.

Day 9 of the challenge is Love Your Purse! Feel embarrassed when you take your purse/wallet out to pay for something? Time to fix that, take everything out, give it a clean and only put the things back in that you really need (ditch all those store cards you never use). Show your purse some love and it will love you - lesson learned from the lovely @deniseDT

Join the fun,
  1. Take a pic
  2. Tag me
  3. Use #myorganizedchaos
Simple!

The challenge is running in conjunction with the free training series for busy mamas, pop your name in the box below and you will learn so easy to apply tips to get your life more organized and back on track...

Whats happening…

I just realised that I haven't really shared with you what I have been up to work wise for a while, I do like to keep you in the loop. Well, this year Clear The Clutter will now have 2 sign up periods, one is done and dusted, the next one will be in November this year. Next year, I might drop it down to one intake, we'll see.

My Organized Chaos is getting a make-over, a lot of the original content will be still be included but I am adding a whole load of new goodies to make it a more rounded program, I want to include more help for mama, let's face it, life ain't all about the kids! I have been trying to decide on the content and which modules will go together, high tech version…

I'm very excited about the new set up and looking forward to launching that in September. I also have 2 books in the works, the first should be out by the end of this month, if you want to get your hands on a free copy, make sure you are signed up for the MOC playbook (use the form below).

I also plan to stop doing the Rock Star Mom VIP days, although I enjoy doing them I really want to focus my time on MOC. I have a couple of spots open until the summer then after that I will probably close that down.

I joined a mastermind group this year and the support and help has been amazing, I'm really loving what is going on and so happy that I made the decision to kick teaching English to the curb and throw my energy and passion into something I actually love. Of course I still have the sewing patterns & Montessori files in Etsy but that is pretty much on auto-pilot. Hopefully I will get to design some more patterns in the near future - so many ideas, so little time!

So, now I have a question for you - is there a service or something I could help you with? Please let me know, that is how MOC and CTC came about - you asked, I made it happen!

Being Location Independent…

One of my big goals is to have a completely location independent business, so that if we ever need to up and leave, we can and still have money coming in plus I want to be able to take long trips abroad and still be able to keep my biz ticking over.

It all started by changing my sewing patterns from paper to digital, I was bit nervous that people wouldn't want to buy digital patterns but how wrong I was, they soon started outselling the paper ones, it wasn't as hard as I though it would be! Although I don't do much advertising with the patterns these days, I sell them through Etsy and Craftsy and still making money every week from them which is rather nice!

My Organized Chaos is my main biz now and both the MOC course and Clear The Clutter are set up in a way that I can work on them from anywhere and that people from anywhere can join. I love that the courses are so international and I'm sure it makes it more interesting for the members because they are constantly learning new things about other countries way of doing things.

Another great thing is that we have a number of cool artisan cafes dotted about, all within biking distance, so I can go and work out of the house too. Working from home is great - no commuter trains for starters but it can feel a bit stagnant being stuck in the same place, so I like to go and work out and about at least once a week.

This cafe is my current favourite haunt, they have a simple menu of 4 different lunch dishes which they change each month, and a couple of sandwiches and they make their own pasta and bread. The food is top notch. They also roast their own beans, so the coffee is lovely too!

The chef had come up with a new type of dessert the other day, asked me to sample it and name it! I am useless at names but it was a nice gesture!

Going out somewhere to work also means getting some fresh air, it is so easy to just stay in all day, doesn't feed the mind of the soul. Luckily my hay fever hasn't been too bad this year and the weather has been gorgeous, the change from winter to spring always happens so fast here. I must admit, it is very pretty come spring time…

So, I have the second Montessori Inspired book in the works and a small book on the go too, plus My Organized Chaos course is getting a make-over! Watch this space for more exciting things to come…

The Fun Starts March 17th

This time last year I ran a free kitchen bootcamp - to help busy mamas take back control of their kitchens. It was amazing, I seriously had no idea how much fun it was going to be, 150 women, fed up with their crazy kitchen, taking back control - helz yeah!

From the bootcamp, totally by accident, Clear The Clutter was born - ironic that I hate cleaning but I have loved this course, it has been so much fun and the community rocks, it is amazing how much difference having a group of fabulous ladies cheering you on makes in a day!

March 17th sees round Two of the kitchen bootcamp, if you want in, just sign up below and you will get a free taster of what the Clear The Clutter Course is like. I also have a fab surprise lined up - all will be revealed soon but you will need to be on the list to get your hand on it!

***If you are already on my mailing list, you are not automatically on the list for the bootcamp, you need to sign up for that separately***

What will your before and afters look like?
