The Ultimate Kitchen Bootcamp Is Back!

This is the 4th year I have run the bootcamp! Doesn't time fly!

What is is?

It is 7 days of chaos crushing fun, where you will get your kitchen back on track and under control. No more being knocked unconscious from the tupperware avalanche or spending 15 minutes to find the bloody corkscrew!

Why is works...

We do it together, we have a laugh, their are missions and prizes, we do it as a team and we all finish with a fab kitchen at the end!

I never thought I would put cleaning and fun in the same sentence but it is!

If you have joined before then this round will really be maintenance for you - if it is your first time, you will be amazed at what you accomplish!

Ready to join the fun? It's all free and all the action happens in a private bootcamper members group*

*this is a new group for 2016, if you have joined previous years, you will need to join the new group.

Just pop your details in below and follow the instructions!

Ready to Declutter Your Home In Time For The Holidays?

Yes it's back! We are doing the Holiday Havoc Bootcamp again as the run up to the November in take of Clear The Clutter.

How does it all work?

1. Sign up using the form below

2. Go and click the link in the email sitting in your inbox - or you won't be in!

3. Join the Facebook group - you will get the link when you sign up

3. The bootcamp kicks off October 20th so expect an email from me on the 19th

4. Each day of the bootcamp you will get a mission in the form of an email, complete your mission, take a pic and post it in the facebook group with any brags, a-ha moments and funny finds!

Why does it work?

OK, this is not a solution to your chaos in your home, this is like doing a detox to kick start your diet. So when you do a detox you take a few days to concentrate on all the crap in your body and work on getting it out, but a detox isn’t a long term solution is it? No way Jose, you need to change your diet, your way of eating, what you put into your body for it to work. Well, the bootcamp is just like that.

For a week we concentrate on getting as much crap out as possible then, those who continue with Clear The Clutter will be on the healthy eating plan but for their home. Consciously being aware of what is being bought in and which habits need to be broken.

Doing it with friends, in a group, keeps you accountable which means you actually DO IT rather than think about doing it!

Holiday season is when we welcome friends, family and gifts into our home, it shouldn’t be a time to feel ashamed or stressed at the state of your home, so grab yourself some empty bags and boxes and let’s do this!

Sign up below…don’t worry, I will never sell or do anything dodgy with your email address, it’s safe with me. I will be sending you my weekly playbook filled with cool ideas, tips and tricks but if it doesn’t rock your boat, you can unsubscribe after the bootcamp – I won’t be offended and we can still be friends

Whats happening…

I just realised that I haven't really shared with you what I have been up to work wise for a while, I do like to keep you in the loop. Well, this year Clear The Clutter will now have 2 sign up periods, one is done and dusted, the next one will be in November this year. Next year, I might drop it down to one intake, we'll see.

My Organized Chaos is getting a make-over, a lot of the original content will be still be included but I am adding a whole load of new goodies to make it a more rounded program, I want to include more help for mama, let's face it, life ain't all about the kids! I have been trying to decide on the content and which modules will go together, high tech version…

I'm very excited about the new set up and looking forward to launching that in September. I also have 2 books in the works, the first should be out by the end of this month, if you want to get your hands on a free copy, make sure you are signed up for the MOC playbook (use the form below).

I also plan to stop doing the Rock Star Mom VIP days, although I enjoy doing them I really want to focus my time on MOC. I have a couple of spots open until the summer then after that I will probably close that down.

I joined a mastermind group this year and the support and help has been amazing, I'm really loving what is going on and so happy that I made the decision to kick teaching English to the curb and throw my energy and passion into something I actually love. Of course I still have the sewing patterns & Montessori files in Etsy but that is pretty much on auto-pilot. Hopefully I will get to design some more patterns in the near future - so many ideas, so little time!

So, now I have a question for you - is there a service or something I could help you with? Please let me know, that is how MOC and CTC came about - you asked, I made it happen!

Being Location Independent…

One of my big goals is to have a completely location independent business, so that if we ever need to up and leave, we can and still have money coming in plus I want to be able to take long trips abroad and still be able to keep my biz ticking over.

It all started by changing my sewing patterns from paper to digital, I was bit nervous that people wouldn't want to buy digital patterns but how wrong I was, they soon started outselling the paper ones, it wasn't as hard as I though it would be! Although I don't do much advertising with the patterns these days, I sell them through Etsy and Craftsy and still making money every week from them which is rather nice!

My Organized Chaos is my main biz now and both the MOC course and Clear The Clutter are set up in a way that I can work on them from anywhere and that people from anywhere can join. I love that the courses are so international and I'm sure it makes it more interesting for the members because they are constantly learning new things about other countries way of doing things.

Another great thing is that we have a number of cool artisan cafes dotted about, all within biking distance, so I can go and work out of the house too. Working from home is great - no commuter trains for starters but it can feel a bit stagnant being stuck in the same place, so I like to go and work out and about at least once a week.

This cafe is my current favourite haunt, they have a simple menu of 4 different lunch dishes which they change each month, and a couple of sandwiches and they make their own pasta and bread. The food is top notch. They also roast their own beans, so the coffee is lovely too!

The chef had come up with a new type of dessert the other day, asked me to sample it and name it! I am useless at names but it was a nice gesture!

Going out somewhere to work also means getting some fresh air, it is so easy to just stay in all day, doesn't feed the mind of the soul. Luckily my hay fever hasn't been too bad this year and the weather has been gorgeous, the change from winter to spring always happens so fast here. I must admit, it is very pretty come spring time…

So, I have the second Montessori Inspired book in the works and a small book on the go too, plus My Organized Chaos course is getting a make-over! Watch this space for more exciting things to come…

Time Is A Ticking…

A wee reminder.. the doors close very soon for registration to Clear The Clutter, the bootcamp was a big success and we had loads of greatly improved kitchens by the end of the week plus the video interviews went down a storm. If you didn't get chance to watch them you can sign up now, they will be available until the en dog the month Click HERE to sign up for the videos.

I had to share this from one of the bootcampers because it really made me smile too! Imagine if the whole house did that for you!

Bootcamp is pretty hardcore, the whole kitchen in one week is a big job which is why in Clear The Clutter we do it at a much slower and more doable pace. We tackle one room at a time and give it a really deep clean and de-clutter. Once you have that done it is SO much easier to maintain!

So, if you are interested in the program but you are not sure if it is for you or not, drop me a line or pop a question in the comments, tell me what is bothering you or what you are struggling with and I will give you an honest answer about whether the program is suited for you.

At a mere $129 for the year, that is 35cents a day - seriously, it's a steal for you to know you are going to get your house back in order and you back in control, goodbye to chaos stress and hello to the new de-clutter you and home!

Time to act, the doors close in a couple of days, sign up for registration HERE

Healthy 2 ingredient - fill me up cookies

That's right, only 2 ingredients for these. So, these came about because Ebi-kun eat like a horse in the morning so I wanted to have some 'extras' on hand to help fill him up if he was still hungry after his breakfast (we usually have porridge or toast and eggs with fresh fruit and yoghurt). These have gone down well, simple to make and adapt with the extras you can put in.

I'm not sure cookie is the right name for them, they have more of a cake like texture rather than cookie.

What you need…

2 bananas
2 cup of quick cook oats

Any extras…(I didn't measure, just chucked some in)
dried fruit
choco chips
desiccated coconut
cocoa nibs
dried cranberries

  1. Heat the over to 190deg C
  2. Place a sheet of parchment paper on the over tray
  3. In a blender, whizz the oats until it makes a flour.
  4. Remover the flour and next do the bananas until well smashed
  5. Stir in the flour until it makes a dough
  6. Mix in your extras
  7. Roll into balls and place on the parchment paper - makes about 10 (depends on the size of your bananas)
  8. Bake for 10 minutes
  9. Allow to cool - store in an airtight container

Another thing we tried was Claire's secret healthy choco sauce, she shares it in tomorrows video interview! If you haven't registered yet, sign up HERE.

On Being Stopped In The Street…

Ahh, the price of fame! We went to the grocery shopping yesterday and I got stopped by a Japanese lady who wanted to tell me she had seen me in the Ikea magazine, it's not actually as an impressive tale as that, she is the mom of one of Ebi-kun's classmates. It was still quite funny though and although it is nearly the end of the school year, she has never spoken to me before.

Talking of Ikea…We went on Saturday, there were a few bits and bobs that I needed (yes, I include cider in that list!) so when we got there we asked for a copy of the magazine. from what I gather it is sent out to people who are members of their "family" club but when I explained that we were actually in the magazine, the member of staff went and got me one.

Of course, that meant we had to get the cheesy photo…

The Ultimate Kitchen Bootcamp started today so I have been super busy making sure everything is set up and ready to go, there are 265 fabulous ladies raring to go, the fun has already started in the Facebook group, it's not too late so if you want in, hop over here to sign up. I had better get back to it but I just wanted to leave you with this quote from one of my Clear The Clutter Rock Stars, it totally sums it up for me!

The Fun Starts March 17th

This time last year I ran a free kitchen bootcamp - to help busy mamas take back control of their kitchens. It was amazing, I seriously had no idea how much fun it was going to be, 150 women, fed up with their crazy kitchen, taking back control - helz yeah!

From the bootcamp, totally by accident, Clear The Clutter was born - ironic that I hate cleaning but I have loved this course, it has been so much fun and the community rocks, it is amazing how much difference having a group of fabulous ladies cheering you on makes in a day!

March 17th sees round Two of the kitchen bootcamp, if you want in, just sign up below and you will get a free taster of what the Clear The Clutter Course is like. I also have a fab surprise lined up - all will be revealed soon but you will need to be on the list to get your hand on it!

***If you are already on my mailing list, you are not automatically on the list for the bootcamp, you need to sign up for that separately***

What will your before and afters look like?

Do you ever look around and think, I could be living in a magazine?

It has been killing me sitting on this! Months ago, Ikea Family Live Magazine got in touch and asked if I would like to featured in their magazine!

Scrape me off the floor - of course I said yes!

I am glad they do these features, showing real homes with real people. Our home looks lived in, it's not perfectly tidy, it is organized but not to the point where it loses that homely feel. I use the same system that I teach in Clear The Clutter to keep everything under control, I have to because I am not a natural neat freak, so if I don't keep on top of it, chaos reigns.

I think it also helps with that new phenomenon where people beat themselves up because their home doesn't look like the beautiful pictures they see on Pinterest! I would put money on the fact that if you walked into one of those 'perfect' homes unannounced, it wouldn't look so darn perfect.

When I agreed to do this for Ikea, I wanted to stay true to myself, yes, I could have squirrelled away all the books off the bookshelf, leaving just a desirable one or two and moved things out of shot so it looks 'prettier' but at the end of the day, I wanted it to really reflect our home as it stands, a real home with real people living in it. Click HERE to see the whole article, it is in the paper edition too but it is also all Japanese! I will post the translation below.

Before we get to the translation, I want to remind you that Clear The Clutter will be opening it's doors again soon and I will be running the totally fabulous and FREE Kitchen Bootcamp again, pop your name in the box to join in the fun!

And the English mock up they sent me, the numbers for the images don't make much sense in the English version because they changed the image layout! But you get the general idea…

3 fool-proof ways to save money at Ikea

Yes, guess where I went on Saturday? Some may call me crazy but it actually wasn't that busy and I went alone so over all it was very pleasant. I had meatballs for lunch and actually got to eat all of them instead of certain members of the family who insist on ordering something different but then always have to 'try' my meatballs!

I know some people hate Ikea, despite marriages breaking up and people losing their sanity over flat-pack furniture I think that Ikea is a very cleverly marketed set up.

As soon as you walk through the door you are force to walk around the store the way they want you to, they make it difficult to back track so often you will put things in your trolley because you can't be arsed to go back later, going against the flow is seriously hard work.

I love how they have little rooms set up showing you several different ways of using the same thing, the rooms in Japan are usually standard sizes measured by tatami mats. When you are looking to rent a place it will say the room is 6 or 8 tatami for example. Ikea have many of their rooms set up to this standard sizing so you can see how the furniture would fit in your own room.

They tackle the BIG stuff first, conveniently have the restaurant placed in the middle of their forced walk through, just the right time to have a break! Then you hit the ever-so-dangerous small things section, you know, those things that you go - ohh only ¥199 and you pop it in the basket along with several other bargains. See what I mean - very clever, Japanese home-stores could learn a thing or two!

OK, how to save yourself money, because you know you wallet magically empties after a trip to Ikea!

1. Do your research.
Before you go, get on the Internet and have a good idea of exactly what you want - write it down. Sometimes you might narrow it down to 2 or 3 options but having a good idea of exactly what you need before you go will help with 'ohh look, bright shiny object' syndrome.

2. Only take cash.
Leave any credit card, debit cards or any other way of accessing money at home. Take only the cash budget you are willing to spend and as you go around the store keep a running total - those little items really add up!

3. Go by public transport
This only really works if you are going for some small items, I was after storage boxes. Don't get a trolley, use a bag, then you won't under estimate the weight of the bag you have got to carry home. There were a couple of things that made it into my bag which were kicked out again once I had got the storage boxes I wanted. I know you can have your purchases sent home but then, I had limited cash so that wasn't going to happen.

What I actually wanted were some new boxes to go in the TV unit. When we moved into the house we had some nice looking boxes but over the years the bottoms have fallen out of them. So they had been replaced with a right hodgepodge and the whole think looks unsightly. Oh course, I have been thinking, I will get some new ones when I see some I like.... and still the hodgepodge remained. Since we are doing the living room in the Clear The Clutter course this month, I decided this month was the month to sort it out!

I could do with one more of the cream boxes to replace the brown one, we got rid of the video player that we no longer use and I reorganised the other boxes, threw out a load of junk and I am much happier looking at the area now! Stop snickering at the ancient TV, it works - although it has it's moments sometimes!

I am also tackling the computer area but I will show you that once it is finished. So, are you an Ikea lover or hater?

New School Year and a New Burst Of Energy

Despite the fact that I live in Japan and the school year starts April, for me, I always feel that the school year is September, that is what I grew up with. August is time to kick back and relax and then September kicks in with a new lease of life.

August is a good time to catch up on projects that haven't gotten finished too, many of my Clear The Clutter clients have been doing just that. I love the system that one of them set up, she posted all the printouts from the months that she hadn't quite completed then set to checking each item off as she tackled it.

Each month, you get a printable and then an email every second day reminding you what your mission is, each mission should take no more than 15-30 minutes (depending on the state of your home of course). And it is designed to tackle one room at a time and give it a deep cleanse, getting rid of junk, clearing out clutter and making space.

I am loving watching how everyone's homes are becoming more organized and about hearing how it is helping the whole family too. Plus the team spirit in the Facebook group is great.

Some things the CTC ladies have been saying....
One thing I really appreciate about decluttering is that you now _know_ what needs to be purchased because you know what's missing and don't have the illusion that you can make those torn pants work in an emergency. I feel more confidence in shopping (which I don't particularly care for).
Going back to April's master bedroom, just wondering if people who revamped and decluttered are still keeping up. I've found that now the room us basically neat and well-organized, it is so much easier to do a little tidy up at the weekend and get it square again. DH goes on frequent trips so there are suitcases and basket of laundry sometimes, but overall it is good.
For the first time since starting this course, I am up to date with the missions.  The rest of the house is benefiting also as it is always in the front of my mind so there is no new clutter being made.

So, are you interested in getting your house de-cluttered once and for all, to keep on top of everything and reduce stress, then come on over, we would love to have you! Sign up HERE, I will see you over there.

Sick of nagging your kids to tidy up their room?

You need to watch this (2 minutes long)

Secret Agent 008 has gone rogue and for the whole month of July he and his S.T.P.N. agents with be running OPERATION S.T.P.N. Secret Agent 008 believes that the only way to get to get parents to quit nagging is by out-smarting them. He will send out a mission every second day to his agents with instructions on what to do. By breaking the task of de-cluttering and cleaning the bedroom into bite sized pieces, it makes it achievable and fun.

WARNING - Kids, the nagging parents don't want you to see this....

Secret Agent 008 also believes that to keep OPERATION S.T.P.N. running smoothly that the bedroom should be set up so it is easy to keep clean and tidy, as so, parents will have to take their nagging elsewhere.

Getting the family on board...

Feel like you spend half your time cleaning up and the rest of the family don't help just mess it all up for you again?
Repeat.
Repeat.
and the cycle goes on?

I am going to do a call addressing this problem and sharing some tips on how to get the family on board. You need to register for the call and if you can't make it live you can always pop back and listen at a later date.

If you have any specific questions that you would like me to address, drop me a line and let me know!

You can sign up for the meeting HERE

New to these kind of things? Want to join but you are scraed to?
No worries, that is perfectly normal. It is basically me talking and you listening, while the meeting is live you can type questions into the question box and at the end, if you like, you can talk to me - but there is no pressure, if you want to be anonymous and just listen - that is fine!

So, that's in in a nutshell, pop over HERE to sign up and if you think this would be useful for a friend, please pass on the information.
